Didcot Girls and First Give winning for Clear Sky!

On Friday 7th June we were delighted to be invited to a presentation at Didcot Girls School. Year 9 had once again participated in the brilliant First Give Competition, and Clear Sky was one lucky charity chosen to be represented by a fabulous tutor group, 9NFM.

Anna had previously visited the tutor group and given them an overview of what Clear Sky does, and offered some fundraising ideas for their team.

The presentation on Friday was however a complete treat, with a packed assembly hall of 270 Year 9 students, ready to present the social initiatives that they had set up and conducted, for 9 local charities.

Our tutor group presented flawlessly in front of the panel of judges, including representatives from last year’s winning pupil group, a Trustee of First Give, Mike Durham, and Cllr Ian Snowdon from Oxfordshire County Council. All 9 presentations were innovative and energetic, and we were pleased to learn so much more about the other charities in our area. We were amazed at the confidence of all of the girls to stand in front of such a large audience and present their projects. 9NFM had really understood the work of Clear Sky, and we couldn’t have asked more from their presentation in promoting support for our cause. They had also run not only a cake sale to raise an impressive £102.05 for us, but also encouraged the school community to ‘Give a Hand’ to Clear Sky by painting their brightly coloured handprints onto a huge mural in the school.

At the end of the presentations it was the judges turn to decide the winner and 9NFM were declared victors of the day! We could not have been more delighted to learn that our group were to be awarded with a £1000 winners’ cause cheque from First Give.

Well done to Didcot Girls, and a special shout out to Stuart George and to 9NFM for doing us proud!

Our £1000 winning cheque will go towards supporting children in our area with play and creative arts materials and therapy!
