Last week we hosted a 2-day training, ‘An Introduction to Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating, with the Neurodivergent Client in mind.’ The training was delivered by Bernie Wright, Psychotherapist, and Lisa Smith, BANT Nutritionist, the co-founders of NEDDE Training. Further support, guidance and practical demonstrations were led and co-facilitated by Gillian, a Psychotherapist.
The two days were highly informative, insightful and eye opening, packed full of information from start to finish. Bernie and Lisa provided an overview of not only eating diversity, but also considerations for supporting the neurodivergent client. Practical skills were also shared with opportunities to practice and reflect.
It is very clear that NEDDE Training have huge passion and drive to ensure that all people experiencing disordered eating receive individualised and high-quality support.
Amongst the generous information shared, we learnt that between 1.25 and 3.4 million people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder. Further, a recent survey of sixteen-year-olds in the UK showed that 40.7% had some kind of disordered eating behaviour. These statistics demonstrate the importance of practitioners becoming more skilled in the area of disordered eating.
We are so thankful to have partnered with NEDDE on this 2-day training, and look forward to future partnerships, to continuing empowering practitioners with the knowledge and skills to support clients in this area.
NEDDE, a huge thank you from us, for a fabulous 2-days.
