Didcot Powerhouse Celebration

It was a pleasure to be invited to the Didcot Powerhouse Celebration, and launch of their 2023 Impact Report.

Hosted by the Oxfordshire Community Foundation and supported by many local donor organisations, the Didcot Powerhouse Fund is now in its second year of grant giving, to organisations supporting communities in the Didcot Garden Town area.

Clear Sky were fortunate to be granted funds in 2023 to deliver support to Afghan families who had been displaced by conflict. We were among 18 organisations who were generously supported by the fund, with Didcot neighbourhoods being within the top 10% most deprived areas in England.

The celebration evening was opened by Lord Vaizey, who introduced Didcot Powerhouse Chair, Elizabeth Paris who in turn presented a short film demonstrating the impact of the fund’s work during 2023.

A talk from the grant recipient The Abingdon Bridge followed, with the event wrapped up by David Johnstone, MP for Wantage, and newly appointed Minister for Children and Young people.

A networking session followed, allowing grantees to meet with donors and other grant holders.

We are very grateful to the Didcot Powerhouse Fund for the work that they do for the community in Didcot, and to the generous donors to the fund who enable charities to support the communities right on our doorstep.  We hope to be successful again in future funding opportunities.
