We have an excellent trainee Play & Creative Arts Therapist working with us called Kez Black. Kez is undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills.
As part of her Certificate training, Kez is looking to complete a 100 hour placement in a primary school in Oxfordshire (Kez has completed 30 already), ideally around the west of Oxford or Abingdon area), supporting up to 3 children with Play & Creative Arts Therapy.
A series of Play and Creative Arts Therapy sessions with one child usually costs between £68 and £95 per session. The therapy cost for Kez would be £25 per session. This is a rare opportunity to access this specialist service at minimal cost.
About Kez
My name is Kerry-Lee Nicole Black but I go by Kez. I am 30 years old. I was born and raised in South Africa and moved to the UK in 2019. I discovered the power and effectiveness of Play Therapy in South Africa whilst counselling at a trauma centre at the end of my psychology degree. I moved to the UK in order to specialise in Play Therapy through furthering my work experience and qualification. I thoroughly enjoy seeing how each child uses therapeutic play to navigate, process and move from a place of surviving to thriving. In my working life, post university, I have had the privilege of working with children aged from 4 months to 18 years, across a range of emotional, social, neurological and physical needs.
My job roles have included, being Therapeutic Care Practitioner at a children’s home, working for an Occupational Therapist who used equine assisted physical therapy and sensory integration therapy, A level 2 Nursery Practitioner in the baby, toddler and preschool rooms, a GCSE level tutor and an Au Pair for a family with 4 children.
I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree Majoring in Psychology and Human Physiology and a Bachelor of Social Sciences postgraduate degree in Psychology. I firmly hold to the importance of holistic therapy and the link between mind and body in understanding and facilitating mental well being.
Kez is supported by the Clear Sky team and regular supervision sessions. If you wish to go ahead with hosting Kez during her placement she could begin work with children in Autumn 2023 and is eager to make contact before the end of this summer term to get things underway in September.
