What a treat it was to be invited to attend the ‘Sing Noel’ concert with the Didcot Community Gospel Choir this weekend.
We were delighted to discover that the choir had chosen to support both Clear Sky and Didcot Food Bank this year as beneficiaries of this lovely seasonal event. We were fortunate to be invited along to watch a rehearsal of the event on 3rd December, which was a fun-filled evening in itself.
The main event was attended by our Trustee and Treasurer, Graham Cooper who thoroughly enjoyed the contemporary programme, along with a piece written especially for the choir along with familiar pieces such as ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’
We met so many wonderful people both at the rehearsal and at the concert itself. It is fantastic to know that there is so much support out there in the community for small local charities and we are delighted to have connected with the Didcot Gospel Choir who are led so well by Mark, their Musical Director and Alan, Chair of the group.
Special mentions go to Accompanist Philip Coull and Debbie Lord who composed and arranged ‘A Child is Born’ which was performed for the first time on Sunday.
Didcot Community Gospel Choir’s Chris Belt said:
It was a pleasure to support the local children’s charity Clear Sky at our Christmas Concert this year. “The power of music supporting the power of play and creative arts”.
Thank you to all of the wonderful singers for your infectious energy and beautiful voices, to those who bought tickets and supported both us and the food bank this Christmas and to Chris for choosing us, and making us so welcome!
